Somerset House is a Grade II listed Georgian House set in elegant walled gardens but through the doors is a modern, comfortable and social environment – with visitors made welcome at all times.
The house has been refurbished and tastefully decorated to a high standard, specifically designed to meet the needs of the elderly. The bedrooms are well furnished although residents are welcome to bring some personal furniture to make their room more familiar. A variety of bedrooms are available including many with en suite facilities. Most bedrooms are on the ground floor, avoiding the need to struggle with stairs but there is a stair lift to make the few upstairs rooms easily accessible.
There are comfortable lounges, a dining room and a conservatory overlooking the lawn and 200 year old Redwood within the sheltered gardens. Newly built is a spacious garden room fronting a secluded courtyard patio. The patio has raised planters, outdoor seating with parasols, together with space for the Residents’ vegetable and herb beds. The Garden Room, with its vaulted ceiling, is ideal for our larger functions and activities including theatre shows, cinema evenings and musical events put on throughout the year.
