Residents are encouraged to pursue their hobbies and interests. In addition, some great fun and therapeutic activities are laid on from old favourites like bingo and quizzes to keep the mind sharp, to pet workshops and a gardening club for the more adventurous! Musicians, actors and entertainers regularly put on great shows and performances. During the summer months we have weekly minibus outings to favourite places and often end up with ice creams by the coast or in the countryside. Our newsletters are attached, do have a look to gain a flavour of the fun we have.
A Hairdresser comes in each week and a private Chiropodist visits regularly. The local GP’s surgeries visit the home as required so residents are able to continue to use their usual GP, if local.
We source our food locally as much as possible with our supplies from Victoria Foods in Bristol, meat from local butchers, Hodder’s in Congresbury and Veg from Yatton. Our cooks and kitchen assistants prepare all meals in our kitchens from the freshest ingredients possible. Delicious home made cakes are a particular favourite with our residents.
As a small care home, Somerset House is able to retain its intimate homely feel with cosy lounges, and attentive staff who are really able to deal with the needs of individual residents. We are active in the local community working with charities and churches and every summer we hold a garden party for neighbours and friends from the surrounding area.
We help our residents to live here free from the loneliness, worry or stress often associated with old age.
